Rt. Rev. Msgr. Charuvila George -
New Vicar General of the Eparchy of Mavelikkara |

His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, bishop of Mavelikkara appointed Msgr. Charuvila George, until now the Finance Officer of the Eparchy as the Proto Syncellus of the Eparchy. The new appointment was made on 4 January 2010. Since his ordination on 20 December 1979, he has been serving as the vicar of parishes in and
around Pirappencode, Venniyoor, Nilamel, Thannithode, Chennai, Thuvayoor and Chengannur. This new appointement was made in the place of Rev. Msgr. Padipurackal John who leaves to Gulf for ministry.

| Newly Constructed Building of Amalagiri Bishop's House was Consecrated

29th January 2009: His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos blessed the newly constructed building of Amalagiri Bishop's House of the Eparchy of Mavelikara at Punnammoodu. The blessing ceremony started immediately after the festal Holy Qurbono celebrated by Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Iganthios in Cathedral at Punnamoodu. Many bishops, priests, religious and lay people blessed the occasion with their presence. Eparchy of the Mavelikara is the sixth diocese of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. Vicar General Msgr. John Padipurackal, Procurator Fr. Jacob John Kizhakkethil and Secretary Rev. Dr. John Vaippil gave leadership to blessing ceremony.
